How to care for your leather products?

Looking for the best way to care for your leather products? Below we outline the best way to treat different types of leather to keep you products looking great and ageing with grace year after year.

Top Grain Leather

01. Gently remove stains by cleaning thoroughly with a soft bristle brush. You can also use a damp cloth or a sponge if necessary.

02. After removing the dirt let your item dry completely. Avoid exposing the item to direct heat while letting it dry, it can create cracks in the leather. Now it’s time to apply leather balsam or conditioner. Take your brush and smoothly apply the cream onto your item. Try to spread it out in small circle movements. Let it dry before moving on to the last step.

03. As a finish, you can use protection sprays, these will help to soften and moisturise the leather and will help against stains in the future.  

 

Polido Leather

01. By using a damp piece of cloth or a sponge you can easily remove any stains and dirt from Polido leather. If necessary wipe it dry before moving on to the next step.

02. After wiping the leather dry, you can polish the leather with a suitable wax, balsam or conditioner.

03. As a finish and extra protection, use an impermeable spray. We recommend doing so outside or in a well-ventilated area. Let your item dry fully before adding another layer. Before using your leather product again, make sure it is completely dry.

 

Suede

01. Prepare the suede leather by removing all dirt with a cloth.

02. Use leather soap or wax and gently massage it onto your suede leather. Remove any excess soap or wax from the shoe.

03. If your product gets wet, let it dry naturally away from direct heat. When it is dry give it a good brushing with a rubber brush to bring back the nap.

04. Before wearing suede leather, we would advise to use an impermeable spray, as it protects your item from the elements. If it is a truly rainy day, try to avoid wearing your piece.

 

Vegetable Tanned Leather

01. Gently remove dirt by wiping your item with a damp piece of cloth or sponge. Let it dry completely and if necessary wipe it dry with a towel.

02. As vegetable-tanned leather is tanned with natural elements, such as tree bark and tannin, it will tone darker after time and use. Avoid direct exposure to sun light.

03. Apply beeswax or leather fat to nourish the leather and keep it smooth. Use a brush to gently massage it in. If necessary remove any excess beeswax or leather fat, let it dry fully before moving on to the next step.

04. After letting your item dry, you can apply an impermeable spray, to additionally protect your item from stains. We recommend doing so outside or in a well-ventilated area. Let your item dry fully before adding another layer. Before using your leather product again, make sure it is completely dry.
